Nicholas Hadnutt will explore the Archaeology Curator position with the Queensland Museum, what happens when artefacts arrive at the Museum and the role of the end ‘receiver’ of these types of assemblages, what is done with the artefacts, why and how people can connect with the items when visiting a museum. The talk will end with some information about how Mr Hadnutt secured his position and some of the recent work that he has done elsewhere.

About the speaker: Nicholas Hadnutt is a Curator in the Cultures and Histories Program for Queensland Museum, and is an expert in historical archaeology. As well as being a Curator at Queensland Museum Mr Hadnutt also has a keen interest in the changing roles of museums and museum collection development, 19th and 20th century material culture, and how this reflects Queensland’s changing cultural landscape. Mr Hadnutt holds a Bachelor of Arts (Double Major) from The University of Queensland, before going on to complete his Honours degree, also at The University of Queensland.
