Archaeology and World Heritage at the ICOMOS General Assembly

Presented in partnership with Australia ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites).

What are the key issues driving change for archaeology and World Heritage? 'Heritage Changes' is the theme of the ICOMOS General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (GA2023) to be held in Sydney from 1-9 September 2023. It will provide an amazing opportunity to hear from leading thinkers and meet with global experts.

There will be keynote addresses from HRH Princess Dana Firas (President of the Petra National Trust, Jordan) and June Oscar AO (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner). Internationally recognised archaeologists presenting at GA2023 include Lynn Meskell speaking on the changing dynamics of World Heritage, Cornelius Holtorf on 'heritage futures', Alice Gorman on aerospace heritage, and Jo McDonald on rock art.

There will be sessions on Australian Indigenous cultural landscapes (including Murujuga and Budj Bim), First Nations culture and human rights, and the interrelatedness of natural and cultural heritage, as well as discussions on many archaeological places from across the globe. Join us to find out more.

Presented by:
