Introduction to Archaeology

Dr Kelsey Lowe will introduce the topic of archaeology, providing a quick overview of the history of archaeology, what exactly is the study of archaeology, how potential sites are selected or found, tell-tale signs of potential hotspots on site, and finally the types of finds you can expect. This initial lecture will provide a foundation for the rest of National Archaeology Week, so stay tuned for more!

About the speaker: Dr Kelsey Lowe is an expert in archaeological geophysics, remote sensing, Geographic Infographic System (GIS) and geoarchaeology. Currently working in Australia as Archaeological Heritage Consultant, Dr Lowe has worked on international projects in Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Indonesia, North and South America, Papua New Guinea and Southeast Asia. Dr Lowe holds a Bachelor of Anthropology (Archaeology) from the Minnesota State University Moorhead, a Masters of Anthropology (Archaeology) from the University of Mississippi, and a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Queensland.
