Toowong Cemetery in partnership with The University of Queensland and Friends of Toowong Cemetery run yearly excavations as part of National Archaeology Week, from 23-25 May. These excavations are designed to recover buried headstones from the North Brisbane Burial Grounds (1843-1875), which is now home to Suncorp Stadium.

On Thursday and Friday 23-24 May, the team will run workshops for pre-arranged school groups.  On Saturday 25 May, families and all residents are encouraged to attend from 8am to be a part of the dig and perhaps make a fascinating discovery.

Remember to bring along your picnic rugs, blankets and camper chairs.

Where: Toowong Cemetery, enter via the Richer Street entrance and follow the signs inside to find the excavation site on 8th Avenue Portion 15.
