Koombana Bay has not always been a tranquil spot favoured by families for its calm waters. Beneath the sand and sea are buried the wooden skeletons of many ships. Learn their stories with Bunbury Museum + Heritage Centre's Barbara Rae.

Can you hear the ship’s bells toll? Some are still heard around our shores over 100 years after the waves of Koombana Bay took their ships. Come, relive the stories of Bunbury’s stormy past and the ships that sank into the silver sands as we walk through the ghost ship’s hull which is the Koombana Footbridge. Next time the wind blows listen, carefully… dong… dong… dong…

This is a free event. While registrations are not required it would greatly assist us in gauging expected attendance on the day.

When: 2-3pm, Sunday 19 May 2024

Where: Koombana Drive, Bunbury, Western Australia. Meet at the carpark at the foot of the Koombana Bay Lookout in Mangrove Cove.
