Shut Up and Write Archaeology

Do you have an archaeology writing project that you have been putting off? Perhaps an idea for an article, a post exc. report, a blog post or a half written conference presentation? ASHA presents a NAW event series: Shut-up-and-write-archaeology. The idea is quite simple; a group of writers converge on Zoom. After a few minutes of chit chat they mute their mics and just shut up and write. Writing will occur in 25 minute blocks followed by 5 minute breaks for drinks/chats/a stretch. After three sessions writers can stay around for a more social catch up.

Three evenings are offered for group motivation, so that anyone can pick up an archaeology project from the latent ‘to do’ pile and commit a little bit of time to progressing it. ASHA welcomes participants from all archaeological professions, backgrounds or interests. Participants are welcome to come and go from any of session or parts of a session to work around commitments.

Participants will need to be ready to work in a project (think bite-sized but challenging) in the 25 minute writing blocks. While RSVPs are required, please get in touch via email to receive the Zoom meeting details at events@asha.org.au.

Events will be held between 7:30pm and 9:30pm each Monday, starting in National Archaeology Week for the remainder of May (Monday 17th , 24th and 31st May).

When: 7.30-9.30pm (Sydney time / AEST), Monday 24 May 2021
