How did you become interested in archaeology?

I saw the movie Lawrence of Arabia and decided I wanted to be Lawrence of Arabia.

Tell us about one of your most interesting archaeological discoveries.

My Bedouin shepherd dog, Freddy Shuwardata who came to Australia from a forest in Israel.

Tell us about a funny / disastrous / amazing experience that you have had while doing archaeology.

A student working with me uncovered the top of an ivory bowl. I knew to stop, cover it, and call a conservator. Now it’s published in World Archaeology.

What’s your favourite part of being an archaeologist?

You never get bored.
