The Department of Archaeology and History at La Trobe University are hosting a professional learning workshop for pre-service and in-service teachers during National Archaeology Week, 2024.
The workshop will focus on the Australian Curriculum Year 7 history unit ‘deep time history of Australia’, and will include presentations, hands-on sessions in the lab, and the opportunity to participate in the excavation of a simulated site on campus. The sessions will be focussed on developing foundational knowledge of Australian archaeology and palaeoecology, alongside applications of experiential and object-based learning in the classroom.
This workshop will also be highly relevant to those teaching the current Victorian History Curriculum and those planning for the new Victorian Curriculum next year.
The workshop will be led by Dr Georgia Stannard, Lecturer in Australian First People's archaeology at La Trobe University. Please note that this is an in-person event only and will be hosted at the Bundoora LTU campus.
This workshop will meet APST Standard 2 and Standard 6.
Suitable for pre-service teachers and in-service teachers.
