Celebrate National Archaeology Week on Worimi Country with a special guided tour led by Worimi Traditional Owner Uncle David Feeney (Karuah Indigenous Company) and archaeologist Laura Dafter (University of Sydney). Discover the deep Aboriginal history of Broughton Island—NSW’s largest continental island—through a fascinating collaborative research project that is uncovering the cultural heritage of the island.
Tour a dedicated research lab showcasing stone artefacts, animal bone, and shell recovered through recent excavations on the island, and hear the latest insights into how this material is being analysed and interpreted by the Worimi community and archaeologists.
Before or after the tour, enjoy the FREE exhibition at the Murrook Culture Centre and drop into the Murrook CAFÉ to relax with a GREAT coffee or try the $15 WINTER SPECIAL ‘Soup of the Day’ (accompanied with freshly made damper roll and beverage).
