Celebrate the new collaborative volume that reveals the dispersal of ancient Mediterranean cultural heritage in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand - Mediterranean Collections in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand: Perspectives from Afar.

For those of us in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, the ancient Mediterranean world is remote both in time and, crucially, place. This remoteness generates different experiences of, and new perspectives on, the ancient Mediterranean past and its reception. With these new perspectives come novel ideas and fresh approaches. This collaborative volume brings together, for the first time, museum professionals and academics from national and state museums with university collections to offer their perspectives on the legacies of these collections and their changing yet continued relevancies in the 21st century.

Join co-editors Emeritus Professor Elizabeth Minchin and Candace Richards and authors Dr Georgia Pike-Rowney, Tobi Fulton and Dr Melanie Pitkin as they introduce the research embedded in this volume and its primary themes of provenance, pedagogy, participatory programming and museum ethics.

This event will be held in person and online. For in person attendees, enjoy a catered reception following the event, with copies of the book available from the museum shop at a special launch-night price.
